Tools can be useful (and sometimes necessary) for you to achieve your goals.
Discuss the concept of tools in their many forms.
Your capability (power) to effectively use tools may require persistent practice.
As an example, let’s look at the rock band King Stingray, whose goal is “to open the eyes of a nation while simultaneously rocking its socks off.” To raise awareness and understanding of Indigenous culture through their music.
To achieve their goal the band uses a process of storytelling through musical performance.
What tools could King Stingray use to assist them to achieve their goal?
For example; vocals, guitars, keyboards, drums, didgeridoo, dance, PA systems, lighting, etc.
Through rehearsing (practice) they build their capability to perform, entertain and inform. The more they practice the better (and more capable) they become.
Choose one of the goals you’ve already set (or, set a new one) – what tools could you use (or maybe required to use) to achieve the goal?
Participants may need to be prompted to think laterally and not be limited.
How could help you get hold of these tools?
For example; being gifted, joining a group/team, borrowing, sharing, etc.
Who could help you get hold of these tools?
For example; family, friends, sports/community organisations, libraries, etc.
How could you build the capability to use these tools to achieve your goal?
For example; school, training course/apprenticeship, self-taught, manuals, videos, practice, etc.
Who could help you build the capability to use these tools to achieve your goal?
For example; mentors, teachers, coaches, etc.
