The Pirru Thangkuray Program is designed to help you achieve what’s important for you! And it isn’t about anyone else – it’s about you being at your personal best to achieve great things.
The program matches you with mentors to connect with culture and achieve goals that make you feel strong and proud.
So, what does feeling strong mean to you?
And what does feeling proud mean to you?
What would make you feel even stronger and prouder?
Build a sense of agency with the student.
What could you achieve if you were feeling stronger and prouder?
What could be possible?
So, could that become a goal?
A lot of successful people have achieved what’s important for them by using goal setting.
Nicho Hynes is a strong and proud Wiradjuri/Darkinjung NRL player who uses goal setting to perform at his best.
Nicho says;
“I always set some big goals at the beginning of my season and I will also set smaller goals that I check in on a week-to-week basis to see how I’m traveling.”
Nicho sets big goals that he breaks down into smaller goals, which create the steps required to achieve his big goal.
Big goals can always be broken down into achievable small goals.
Small goals should align with and support achievement of the big goal
Each small goal Nicho achieves takes him one step closer to achieving his big goal.
Achieving his goals makes Nicho feel stronger and prouder.
So, think big and start small – use Goalhub to create a big goal and break it down into smaller goals that build on one another to achieve your big goal.

This is a conversation to familiarise participants with the concept of goal setting. The mentor should ask questions that promote the participant to consider what goals they would like to achieve, and their benefits.
Start with a big goal and then establish where the participant would begin their goal attainment journey by achieving a small goal.
